Pugmark — Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 August 2026

Pugmark helps people across India find missing pets. That only works if some of what you post is visible to strangers nearby — so this page is mostly about which parts are public, which parts stay private, and when your phone number gets shared.

What we collect

What other people can see

Anyone using Pugmark can see missing-pet and sighting listings, including their photos, the pet details you filled in, the approximate last-seen location on the map, and the username and avatar of whoever posted them. Map spots you submit are public once approved.

Treat anything you attach to a listing as public. Do not include your address, your phone number, or anything else in a photo or a notes field that you would not want strangers to read.

Your phone number

Your phone number is stored separately from your public profile and is not shown on listings.

It becomes visible to one other person in only two situations: when both you and the other party have confirmed a match, so you can actually arrange to reunite the pet; or when you deliberately switch on a "show my phone number" toggle while reporting a sighting or making a banner. Both are opt-in at the moment they happen.

Photo matching happens on your device

When Pugmark compares a photo against missing-pet listings, that comparison runs on your phone using a bundled model. The photo itself is uploaded so it can be shown in the app, but we don't send it to any outside image-recognition service, and we don't use your photos to train anything.

Who else is involved

Pugmark runs on Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and push notifications — and uses Google Maps to draw the map. Those services process your data on our behalf under Google's terms.

There are no ads in Pugmark, no advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

How long we keep things

Listings stay up until you delete them or mark the pet found. Your profile stays until you ask us to delete your account. Reports and moderation records are kept longer, because we need them to act on repeat abuse.

You can delete your account and its data yourself from the Me tab in the app, or by writing to us. See how to delete your account for the full details.

Your choices

Age

Pugmark is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and Google Play is configured to restrict downloads by users it identifies as minors. If you are under 18, please do not create an account.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged in the app.
